Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) February 22, 2012

MissionIR would like to highlight GlobalWise Investments, Inc. (OTCBB: GWIV). The company, via its wholly owned subsidiary Intellinetics, Inc., is a Columbus, Ohio, based Enterprise Content Management (ECM) pioneer with industry-leading software that delivers cloud ECM based solutions on-demand. The company’s flagship platform, Intellivue™, represents a new industry benchmark and game-changing solution by enabling clients to access and manage the content of every scanned document, file, spreadsheet, email, photo, audio file or video tape — virtually anything that can be digitized — in their enterprise, from any PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone, from anywhere in the world.

In the company’s news yesterday,

GlobalWise Investments, Inc. and its wholly owned subsidiary Intellinetics, Inc. provided an overview of the company’s new management team.

William J. “BJ” Santiago, President and CEO. BJ has more than 20 years of senior executive-level management experience with an emphasis in sales, operations and M&A activities in the public and private sectors. During his previous tenure at Lexmark, BJ was hand selected in 2008 by the Lexmark CEO to launch and lead all operations for the newly formed Content Management Sales Practices for North America, which was using the Intellinetics platform. Through this business venture, Intellinetics recognized his ability as an ECM industry thought leader. From here, he became a natural catalyst for Intellinetics’ business development and strategy. BJ also served eight years as a United States Army Infantry Officer and is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm.

Matthew Chretien, EVP and Chief Technology Officer. Matthew is a co-founder of Intellinetics and a strategic entrepreneur backed by more than 20 years of experience in technology sales, consulting and software product life cycle management within the aerospace, public safety, government and select commercial markets. After graduating from The Ohio State University with an engineering degree in 1990, he spent two years in the Fisher College of Business Doctoral Program at Ohio State in computer science to work on his Ph.D. During this period, Matthew discovered his research would be far too narrow to satisfy his interests and ultimately co-founded Intellinetics in 1994.

Michael Chretien, VP and Corporate Counsel. Michael is a co-founder of Intellinetics. After graduating from the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Arts in economics in 1961, he joined the United States Marine Corps and retired in 1965 as a 1st Lieutenant. Michael continued to serve his country for 26 years in law enforcement and foreign counter intelligence. After retirement from government service, he continued his career in the law enforcement field by studying for his Juris Doctorate and was awarded a law degree from Capital University Law School in 1991. Michael’s next move was founding Intellinetics with his son Matthew using his law enforcement background as a client resource to consult and assist with document storage and various other IT-related solutions.

Thomas D. Moss, Chief Software Engineer. Tom is a co-founder of Intellinetics and director of the company’s software research and development efforts. He boasts 20 years of expertise in database application design and document imaging software technologies, and has earned both a mathematics degree and a computer science degree at the University of Wisconsin.

Michael A. Beck, Director of Operations. Mike brings to Intellinetics 17 years of IT experience, including IT management, hands on technical experience, departmental management, staff development, budget development and management, network design, large-scale project management, creation of a new IT telecommunications department, contract negotiations, vendor management and technology migrations. Mike has proven his ability to consistently bring projects in on time and within budget.

Neil C. Campbell, Director of Software Products Group. Neil has 16 years of experience in the IT field with an emphasis in infrastructure design, software architecture and productivity improvement solutions. Neil spent 11 years at Abbott Laboratories with focus on manufacturing IT operations and warehouse management systems before he joined Intellinetics as a project manager in fall of 2006. Neil was promoted to Director of Software products in 2008, where he currently contributes visionary leadership, thoughtful interpretation, diagnosis and resolution to complex business issues facing companies today and in the future. Neil holds a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio University and industry certifications from Microsoft, Cisco, Extreme Networks, HP, Dell, Marathon Technologies and IBM.

Jim Perry, Director of Business Development. Jim has more than 15 years of executive sales and marketing experience providing Electronic Content Management (ECM), workflow and advanced data capture solutions to the healthcare, government and insurance markets. Jim previously served as a Senior Account Executive for ImageSoft, Inc. where he was responsible for developing and selling ECM solutions to the healthcare, government, manufacturing and insurance markets. Jim was personally responsible for innovating and developing a marketing plan for the healthcare vertical market that resulted in ImageSoft being recognized in 2008 as No. 1 of more than 200 reseller integrators of OnBase ECM Software in the United States.

Robert Simmons, Director of Business Development. Robert’s experience in the print and imaging industry spans 15 years. He most recently served as the Director of Enterprise Solution Architecture for Samsung Electronics. Robert has been responsible for creating programs and services that analyze vertical market requirements for document and output solutions, which have resulted in millions of dollars in cost savings and efficiency gains. He has specialized in developing programs and solutions for healthcare, government and education customers in North America. Robert holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Lee University and an MBA from the University of Phoenix.

Randy Love, Director of Business Development. Over the past 10 years of his 25-year IT career, Randy’s efforts have been focused on the ECM market. Most recently he worked 4 years as the VP of Sales and Business Development at an Ohio based ECM provider counting a number of complex, multi-million dollar imaging solutions to his team’s credit. He also spent 4 years as a Government Industry Manager at Hyland Software where he was credited with assisting partners on numerous high profile public sector projects as well as leading direct efforts on a statewide SAP integration deal. Prior to focusing on the ECM industry, Randy spent five years marketing mobile data software solutions to criminal justice agencies and 10 years in the commercial sector with a national systems integration firm. Early in his career, Randy worked as a Systems Engineer and Programmer Analyst, which has transcended to the technical aptitude he brings to his current position. He is a Certified Document Imaging Architect (CDIA+), AIIM ECM Practitioner and computer science graduate with a Bachelor of Science from Youngstown State University.

Bob Peterson, Director of Business Development. Bob has over 20 years of senior management experience with an emphasis in channel sales, business development and marketing. Bob has most recently been the Director of Healthcare for Seneca, a market leader with a wide range of products, engineering and software services. At Intellinetics, Bob will continue to partner with Seneca, working together to jointly develop various strategic partners. Bob was a VP of Sales and Marketing at Optio Software, a leader in Electronic Document Management and Information optimization used in healthcare, government and commercial markets. Bob’s team developed and successfully marketed an Electronic Document Management solution that successfully lowered cost and increased efficiency for hospitals and helped meet HIPPA requirements, JACOH standards and enhanced Electronic Medical Record implementations.

Riverside, CA (PRWEB) February 20, 2012

Altek Media Group’s President and CEO, Dwight Cromie, stated: “By working with local government and business leaders, we have taken a holistic approach to rebuilding this region’s economy. With the loss of redevelopment dollars, regional business leaders now need to take the lead in promoting this region.”According to County Supervisor and candidate for the 41st Congressional District John Tavaglione, “Inland Southern California has tremendous potential for any business or organization to start, expand, or grow their business. We are a model for economic and business development, not just for the state, but the nation as well.”

The Altek Media Group’s already successful SoCalCEO.com magazine features video stories highlighting Southern California-based businesses and their CEOs, local events, governmental agencies, and economic and educational news. Cromie claims: “The goal of Southern California CEO magazine is to actively stimulate and grow our region’s economy by telling our story in a much more effective manner than is currently being done.” He went on to say, “Any marketing expert will tell you that word of mouth is absolutely the best form of marketing. What better way to promote our region than to have branding messages of economic success and prosperity delivered directly from the men and women whose organizations call the Inland Southern California region home?”

The video stories or episodes are distributed to over 250,000 online news feed subscribers and over 30,000 online journalists, along with all major search engines. They are also sent to an already growing subscriber list of over 5,000 regional business leaders in the magazine’s newsletter. According to Marketing Director, Patrick McCoy, “The average video story increases the web footprint of the business or organization by several thousand online listings. In fact, the County of Riverside has already seen an increase of nearly 20,000 additional online search results.”

The Altek Media Group’s SoCalMD.org magazine focuses on medical professionals and their patients by highlighting doctors, hospitals, organizations, and medical information. SoCalNPO.org magazine covers nonprofit organizations throughout the region. Since one of the biggest problems facing nonprofits today is funding, SoCalNPO.org offers a forum through which local nonprofits and their sponsors can spread their message with a goal of increasing much needed philanthropic dollars to their organization and the region. The last of Altek’s newest online magazines is SoCal Water and Power (SoCalWNP.org), a video magazine centered on sharing developments and news within the region’s water and power industry. SoCal Water and Power provides a resource through which businesses and local governments can observe what is happening by watching video stories on conferences, summits, workshops, and business projects.

Supervisor John Tavaglione stated, “A region as dynamic as Inland Southern California which is the center for education, logistics, foreign trade, recreation, and arts and culture deserves a forum in which stakeholders can come together and tell the nation, and the rest of the world, what this region has to offer.” By telling stories of success and progress nationally and internationally, The Altek Media Group and its partners hope to not only restore the Southern California economy, but to bring it into its full potential, and better the region and nation as a whole.

New York, NY (PRWEB) February 20, 2012

A 35 year old book about a demoralized and professionally under-rated assistant lecturer accused of murdering his wife has been named the funniest book of all times.

Funny Books Organization, an independent organization of book clubs, authors, agents, publishers and book shops, selected Tom Sharpe’s Wilt, from 1976, from more than 500 nominated books. The jury cited the book as “superb” and hailed it for its “blunt, yet elegant humour (…) not only surviving the enormous social changes of the last 35 years, but rather maturing into a classic.”

Wilt was first published by Secker and Warburg, and its success led Sharpe to follow up with an entire series of Wilt books; the latest of which was The Wilt Alternative in 2011. The novel is named after its main character, Henry Wilt. Years of teaching meaningless classes of uninterested students has made him give up all professional aspirations. At home he is subjected to hen-pecking and harassment by his physically powerful but emotionally immature wife Eva. Lacking hobbies or interests, Wilt spends his evenings walking the dog and dreaming of killing his wife. But a series of mishaps and unfortunate events start Wilt on a farcical journey.

Tom Sharpe is an English satirical author. Born in London, he was educated at Bloxham School, Lancing and Pembroke College, Cambridge. After spending some years in South Africa, he returned to England as a history lecturer at the Cambridge College of Arts and Technology – finding inspiration for “Wilt”. He currently lives in Llafranc, Catalonia, where he according to himself is “busy not learning the language”.

Wilt beat such competition as the classic “Catch-22″ by Joseph Heller and “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” by Douglas Adam, and bestsellers like ” Bridget Jones’ Diary” by Helen Fielding.

(PRWEB UK) 17 February 2012

Dr David Mitchell has been appointed to join New College of the Humanities as a Senior Lecturer.

Dr Mitchell gained his D.Phil from the University of Oxford, working on problems of rationality in epistemology and ethics. He has previously lectured at the University of Cambridge and the University of Leicester, and for the last five years he has been teaching history of western philosophy at the Aga Khan University’s Institute for the Study of Muslim Civilisations in London.

Dr Mitchell is author of a survey of post-Aristotelian philosophy for the London external BA programme and has published articles on practical reasoning and in applied ethics and the history of ethics.

Dr David Mitchell said, “I am delighted to become part of such a distinguished body of teaching staff and to have the opportunity to work with them to guide, challenge and inspire the next generation of leaders and thinkers.

“The one-to-one tuition offered by New College of the Humanities gives both student and tutor the opportunity to engage with problems in a lively and relevant way, and I am greatly looking forward to the beginning of the academic year.”

In addition to his teaching, Dr Mitchell has recently taken a particular interest in philosophical aspects of issues in international development. This has led to consultancy work with UN agencies and to earning an MSc in Development Studies from the London School of Economics.

Dr Mitchell joins Philosophy course convener and senior lecturer Dr Naomi Goulder in the New College of the Humanities Philosophy faculty, alongside Professor Rebecca Goldstein, Professor Simon Blackburn, Professor Ronald Dworkin, Professor Steven Pinker, Professor Peter Singer, Professor Ken Gemes and Professor AC Grayling, Master of the College.

The university college, launched in June 2011, is currently accepting applications for its September 2012 intake. To be considered for the first tranche of New College of the Humanities’ generous exhibitions worth over 60% of the fees, applications must be received by Sunday 11 March 2012.

Professor AC Grayling, Master of the College, said, “We are very pleased to announce Dr Mitchell’s appointment to the philosophy faculty as a further addition to the body of academic staff at the College.

By attracting superb lecturers such as David, we are promoting excellence in teaching of the humanities and ensuring that the academic experience our students receive is second to none.”

Manchester, UK (PRWEB UK) 3 February 2012

With the deluge of changes over the past two years in the way that universities in the UK are allowed to run, investors could be forgiven for thinking that the student accommodation market was an unfamiliar investment. However, as predicted by Knight Knox International, recently published reports on this sector have highlighted how, instead of a decline in student numbers, universities are experiencing an overwhelming amount of applications, something that their existing facilities cannot cater for.

The global mobility trend for Higher Education has been steadily rising for a number of years, with the recent Knight Frank Student Property Guide 2012 showing that non-domiciled students account for more than a sixth of the UK student population. Although the rise in tuition fees has caused outrage amongst home-grown students, universities have traditionally charged non-EU students higher fees, so compared to worldwide university fees, the UK remains competitive.

Additionally, the work restrictions put in place for entering the country on a student visa by the UK Border Agency last year means that only the most affluent of students will be able to afford to study here. The UK is currently ranked third in the world for the price of tuition fees for overseas students, highlighting the need for universities to package their courses and institutions more attractively.

As recorded in a recent GVA Grimley Student Housing overview, the private sector currently accounts for approximately 40% of all UK student housing needs, as universities increasingly find that they cannot keep up with the demand for affordable accommodation. Recently published research by residential property experts Knight Frank indicates that approximately £500m will be generated by universities over the next five years, due to the disposal of their existing halls of residence to the private sector.

The UK student accommodation market accounted for more than £740m worth of capital in 2011, according to research by commercial property advisor CBRE, fueled, in part, to the growth in rental prices and high occupancy levels in regional cities.

Historically, the student accommodation market in the UK has always been a solid investment for institutions, with pension funds the driving force behind the majority of ventures. Over the past couple of years however, the market has shifted towards a more commercial offering and specialist companies like Knight Knox International have penetrated the market by re-packaging and selling individual units, which are more attractive to private investors.

Attracted by this lucrative investment opportunity (average rental yields are 6-6.5%), both domestic and overseas buyers alike are focussing on building stylish, affordable accommodation for a more consumer-focused student.

After recent successful ventures in Birmingham and Liverpool in the provision of bespoke, boutique student accommodation, Knight Knox International is making major strides in the UK student buy-to-let market, with at least three major developments underway. St Ann’s Lodge in Headingley, Leeds and Nelson Square in Bolton are both major refurbishment projects that have drawn major investment from buyers. Attracted by assured 10% rental yields that are currently outperforming virtually all national property investments, and the knowledge that a specialist student management company will handle all queries, both projects currently have high occupancy rates, which shows why student accommodation is one of the strongest performing asset classes in the country.

The Hub, Knight Knox’s own development project in Sheffield, is a new-build construction set over seven floors. Comprised of 71 bedrooms, The Hub is the first self-funded development by Knight Knox International and will be ready for the first intake of students in Q4 2012.

Boston, MA (PRWEB) February 16, 2012

Genomind today announced that the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Department of Psychiatry is beginning a major inpatient study examining the use of genetic biomarker data to inform clinician treatment decisions for patients with treatment resistant major depressive disorder.

The IRB-approved study compares treatment-as-usual vs. assay-guided treatment in inpatient adults with treatment resistant depression (TRD). Assay-guided treatment in the study will use the Genecept™ Assay. Recruitment begins immediately. The primary study objective is improvement in depressive symptoms from baseline to 6 months, and secondary endpoints including change in clinician behavior, as well as decrease in costs.

“Until recently, clinicians have not had tools available for enhancing decision-making to increase the chance for treatment response and decrease the risk for adverse drug reaction, which can reach 5-10%,” said John D. Matthews, MD, Director of Inpatient Research and Training at MGH and an Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School. “Our understanding of the genetic basis of inter-individual variation of drug response, which can vary between 30-60%, has been advanced by genome sequencing, the development of pharmacogenetic biomarkers to predict treatment response and risk for toxicity, and pharmacogenetic genotyping of metabolic capacity.”

“We have worked closely with the MGH Psychiatry Department leadership for years, in recognition of their position as leaders who share our vision of bringing the best of science to patients suffering from treatment resistant disorders,” said Jay Lombard, DO, Chief Scientific Officer and Medical Director, Genomind. “Studies and data collection are essential to helping transform scientific discovery into clinical practice with the patient in mind.”

The focus of this study will be on pharmacogenetic genotyping of metabolic activity for decision-making in the treatment of major depressive disorder with antidepressants. Future genome-wide association study analyses will also be undertaken to identify biomarkers that might be used to predict treatment response and tolerability. For further information about other studies involving the Genecept Assay, see ClinicialTrials.gov (http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/results?term=page-1).

The Genecept Assay combines a proprietary panel of genetic tests and an analytical report to be used by clinicians. In addition, the Genecept Assay is coupled with Genomind psychopharmacologist assistance for clinicians, together with emerging education and information concerning neuropsychiatric disorders and pharmacogenomics. Genomind has unique intellectual property for this integrated approach and product.

About Genomind: Genomind is a company specializing in neuropsychiatric personalized medicine and was formed to facilitate the adoption of personalized medicine into psychiatry by providing genetic information for clinicians to better understand the patient. Genomind was founded by Ronald I. Dozoretz, MD, a psychiatrist who has devoted his career to improving mental health and bringing innovations in science, delivery, and access to mental health patients. Jay Lombard, DO, a neurologist, is Co-founder of Genomind and is a critically acclaimed author and nationally recognized thought leader in neuropsychiatry practice and research.
That every second TV commercial features one in its soundtrack reflects a massive surge in the ukulele’s popularity. It is heard frequently on pop recordings. It’s all over YouTube – and it was one of Christmas’ most requested gifts. Its global community is bursting at the seams with players of all ages, walks of life, tastes in music and degrees of musical experience. Ukesters have their own star system, media network and a complex supply chain that is struggling to keep up with booming demand.

For as much as the uke is easy to learn, it is also easy to learn bad playing habits. Daifukulele presents live one-on-one private online ukulele lessons, coaching and clinics for ukulele players of all levels to improve their skills quickly by Skype, no matter where they live.

Steve McNie’s strengths are the ones that percolate mainly behind the scenes: producing, coaching, marketing and organizing. He is the force behind the Corktown Ukulele Jam at the epicenter of Toronto’s thriving uke scene.

McNie’s insightful coaching has inspired hundreds to play better and progress faster. He’s big on style, groove, feel and form.

Now, no matter where they live, uke players can work one-on-one with Steve to improve their skills through online ukulele lessons.

“I was contacted about a Skype lesson several months ago by an enthusiastic player in Austin, Texas who’d heard about our work in Toronto,” says McNie. “The connection was fluid and we both adapted instantly to the platform. It went remarkably well and I’ve participated in several since with students spanning the globe. I’m constantly amazed by the quality of the experience. I’m a detailed instructor and Skype is a perfect space for this kind of engagement.”

“DAIFUKULELE”

McNie explains that daifuku means “big fun and huge luck” in Japanese. Add “lele” and a new word emerges to represent the elevated state of well-being that comes from playing the uke.

daifukulele.com offers 4 coaching options ranging from a quick-fix 15 minute “problem clinic” to address a specific playing challenge with a corrective plan, 30 minute “ergonomic check-ups” focus on your ukulele posture – and one hour online ukulele lesson packages.

“We’re pretty earnest about tapping the uke’s built-in fun and whimsy with the integration of good playing practices.” observes McNie. “Serious players get the same benefit from a flight of weekly lessons that any musician would on any instrument, but people are requesting one-offs to address specific challenges… a song or a specific strum someone wants to learn. The thing I hear most? Pain and tension. Because it’s so easy to learn, uke players develop bad habits that don’t present as obstacles until later. I deal with this across all skill levels, but the sooner one gets an experienced intro, the better.”

ABOUT STEPHEN McNIE

daifukulele.com was established by Toronto musician/impresario, Steve McNie.

Steve McNie produces the Corktown Ukulele Jam at the epicenter of Toronto’s thriving uke scene. He’s big on style, groove, feel and form.

His insightful teaching has inspired hundreds to play better and progress faster at any skill level. His highly acclaimed ukulele workshops, clinics and private teaching have inspired hundreds to play better and progress faster. Toronto schools like Havergal College, University of Toronto Schools, St. Clement’s and the Mabin School have all recently engaged Steve to introduce the ukulele to their music and extra-curricular programs. Always fun and reflective of the ukulele’s inherent whimsy, Steve balances playing and singing with ear training, relevant theory, rhythm and choral sense from charts, notation and by ear.

Steve also operates UKOPOLIS.com to present effective team-building workshops that promote increased collaboration amongst corporate and sports teams.

Steve managed top-tier family entertainers Sharon, Lois & Bram (over 3.5 million albums sold) and has an Executive Producer credit on their 52-episode CBC/Learning Channel/PBS series, Skinnamarink TV. He has also worked in marketing capacities for CTV, CBC, PolyGram, A&M Records, Walt Disney Home Video, Warner Music, Canada Systems Group and GRT. He taught marketing and digital media at Sheridan and Centennial Colleges in Toronto.

It is to the cello (University of Toronto and Royal Conservatory of Music), and particularly to mentor/cellist Daniel Domb that Steve attributes much of his sense for music. He is a founding member of the Corktown Chamber Orchestra and plays bass and accordion in The McFlies.
